# 500 Internal error on login page after upgrade

Hi - I upgraded from 1.4 to 2.1 - no errors during the upgrade. When I want to log back in I get the Error 500 internal server error.  
  
Can’t log in  
  
Checked my error logs in my files found this error  
  
[Mon Sep 12 09:10:52 2016] [error] [client 41.246.90.21] File does not exist: /usr/www/users/clghyjcxpz/favicon.ico, referer: [http://mysite.co.za/mautic/s/login](http://mysite.co.za/mautic/s/login).  
  
  
  
New to mautic please help

Hi @dellabella ,  
just run a test update with a clone of my production site. Login screen also showed Error 500 just below the user and password field. I switched PHP version from 5.6.25 to 7.0.10 and the error was gone.
