# Archive old emails

I’d like to be able to archive emails, causing them to move into their own UI view and stop being updated in any way (no new pending, etc.). Archived emails should RETAIN all click data, etc.
This would be useful in helping assess the success of email design over time (and harvesting content from old ones) while de-cluttering the interface.

Good question. Since there doesn’t seem to be an official “vote” like on GitHub, I’d assume by chiming in with a comment–which you did. I’m not sure how this forum is meant to be better than Github, since Github is pretty much the world standard for this exact application, but whatever.

So it’s not just me being dumb, the vote link seems not to be there for other people as well. I vote for this. (Some requests have different number of votes and replies so there must be a separate vote link lurking somewhere…)

I concur. It would make it so much easier if I can archive emails rather than deleting data that might be useful for assessment.

There really shouldn’t be a pending queue of unprocessed items after an email has been sent. This is somewhat of a UI issue and not an archival issue. Why display the count of unsent contacts? There should be a status `complete` that can be applied in order to no longer display these counts.

Hi @da644 and thanks for posting.
In answer to your question, we have not had any interest at all to date, or any attendance at the kick off call for this initiative, so it looks likely that this will be a later release in the 4.x series unless there is some change in that situation.
Is it something that you would be interested in working on or supporting? We would definitely value your thoughts!

We are thinking about taking this up. Is anyone else working on this? Or has it become obsolete - as it is quite old.
I’m mostly thinking about a way to hide inactive items (emails, segments, etc.)

Hi @adiux as far as I know it’s not being worked on yet.
Here’s the project on the roadmap process from the Community Portal: [[Strategic Initiative] Archive old resources - Propose new features - Propose new Mautic features - Mautic Community Portal](https://community.mautic.org/processes/roadmap/f/4/proposals/7).
We do have $500 allocated for the archiving part on open collective, and the other $500 was allocated towards the folder management project which @npracht and team are planning to work on.
Here’s how we suggested you ‘claim’ a project on the roadmap: [https://contribute.mautic.org/product-team/request-for-proposals-rfp-process#how-to-claim-a-project](https://contribute.mautic.org/product-team/request-for-proposals-rfp-process#how-to-claim-a-project) - note that we tend to use Figma nowadays for wireframes. So I’d suggest writing up a proposal and responding on the portal, including whether you’re planning to claim the bounty for the project/fund the remaining work, and what the key milestones might look like.
We’d be aiming to ship that in Mautic 7 and as a feature it’d need to be merged in alpha or beta, timelines are as follows:
