# Campaign duration and segment membership

**Your software**  
My Mautic version is:v5.1.1  
My PHP version is:8.1.29  
My Database type and version is:10.5.25-MariaDB-ubu2004

**Your problem**  
My problem is: I fill a segment with new customers who bought for the first time exactly 7 days ago. This segment is the contact source of my campaign. The campaign runs for 4 weeks. 4 emails every 7 days. Do the contacts have to be in the segment for the entire 4 weeks or is it enough at the beginning? And do any settings have to be made to only use it initially?
