**Your software**
_Mautic version is_: 4.4.5
_My PHP version is_ : 7.4.33
_My MariaDB version is_ : 10.5.17-MariaDB-cll-lve

**Your problem**

I have a problem with the bounce management.

I did everything as it was said here: [Bounce management | Mautic](https://docs.mautic.org/en/channels/emails/bounce-management) and read so many posts about bounce management but haven’t found the answer.

Can someone help?

I am sending and receiving emails via my own server. Sending emails works perfect. Problem is with receiving bounces.

If I set a `Custom return path (bounce) address` with my email address [bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com) in the Email settings than all bounced emails are sent right there to [bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com). It’s ok. But if I additionally set this email address ([bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com)) in the `Monitored Inbox Settings` as well, my mailbox [bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com) does not receive bounced emails any more.

I checked my server logs and found that every time it is a bounced email the delivery of the returning message is false. Every time it happens it tries to send returning message to the email address [bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com](mailto:bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com) instead of [bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com).

See below an example log how it looks when I’m sending an email from Mautic (configured to send emails from address [mail@domain.com](mailto:mail@domain.com)) to the fake email address [abcdefgh123@ffaakkee.com](mailto:abcdefgh123@ffaakkee.com).

Be aware that even if I’ve configured (in the Email Settings) that Mautic should send email as [mail@domain.com](mailto:mail@domain.com) it makes the [bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com](mailto:bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com) email address as the sender!

Is there any way to make Mautic send email as [mail@domain.com](mailto:mail@domain.com) and if the email is bounced make the message return to the [bounce@domain.com](mailto:bounce@domain.com) address instead of [bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com](mailto:bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com)?

Any help would be most appreciated.

All the best.

Greg

Did you managed to solve this?

Actually i have the same email address for bouces: bounce@domain.tls set in ‘Custom return path (bounce) address’ field, and it works.

But if i set something in ‘Monitored Inbox Settings’, nothing works anynome and even if i try to send an email inside contacts profile i get the same error 550 as above [bounce+bounceXXXXXXXX@domain.com]. Campaign emails sent also doensn’t work.

The same happens even if i do not set the’Custom return path (bounce) address’ field but fill the ‘Monitored Inbox Settings’ with the same ‘Mail Send Settings’ email address.

I’m testing Mautic 5.1
