# Customizing defaults for segments

**Your software**
My Mautic version is: 5.2.2
My PHP version is: 8.3
My Database type and version is: 8.0.36-0ubuntu0.22.04.1
**Your problem**
My problem is: I’d like segment creation for users to be set to private by default. I’m also wondering if there’s a way to set a required first filter for all segments so that users must make a selection for Company Name with each segment creation?

I did find the option in LeadList.php entity, that seems to work, but I’m not sure if there’s a best practice rather than hacking bits and pieces?
