# Direct Custom Email Templates stripping html/styles

**Your software**  
My Mautic version is: 5.1.0  
My PHP version is: 8.1  
My Database type and version is: MySQL 8.0.37-0ubuntu0.22.04.3

**Your problem**  
There appears to be some sort of issue with the CKEditor and using templates when directly sending an email to single contact.

When using a template based on a theme, the direct send editor strips/modifies a great deal of the original HTML

You can reproduce this by:

1. Install Paprika theme
2. save it as a template
3. click “send email” on a contact page
4. Select the template from the bottom dropdown menu
5. send to contact
6. Notice the rendered html/styling is incorrect

Is this expected behavior? Are there any workarounds.

I have a similar issue.

**Your software**

My Mautic version is: 5.1.0

My PHP version is: 8.0

My Database type and version is: MySQL 8.0

**Your problem**

When I send an email using an existing template to a contact, the The HTML layout of the email appears to be different from what I originally created.

And this is the current layout when sending using an existing template:

To reproduce the issue, load the email template and send it to a contact. The email received will have an different layout:

Hello, different layout then the editor or preview?  
If you are deleting 2 from 1 columns that hold buttons, then you are facing an issue with outlook and gmail rendering difference.  
You need to enlarge the 33% column width to 100% in order to match the new conditions.

Hi, Joey!

The layout issue only appears when sending directly to a contact. When editing the template, the layout is correct. If I use a segment to send the same template, the problem does not occur.
