# Error during upgrade to 1.4

Did the upgrade but got the following error during the db update as it timed-out trying to go to the following address:  
  
  
  
[https://s/update/schema?update=1](https://s/update/schema?update=1)  
  
  
  
Now if I try and do anything I get a 500 error and this in the logs:  
  
  
  
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[’ in /var/www/mautic/app/bundles/SmsBundle/Controller/Api/SmsApiController.php on line 37  
  
  
  
Have cleared the cache but this looks more like a bug to me. Any advice on sorting and getting the site back online?

Thanks for the update.

I guess that this hasn’t been rolled into the latest release yet so I would need to download and update manually?
