# Hosting -can I change to self-hosted later?

If I’m starting with a free hosted account? Can I switch to a self-hosted one later ?

You can only export your contacts, but all forms and campaigns are tied to database, which you have no direct access to when using SaaS version of Mautic.
In short, switching to self hosted will save only your contacts.

That definitely keeps me back from starting with hosted
