As a fast growing startup we are very excited to have just installed mautic on a new server and integrate it into our marketing strategy. Our public customer facing website is e.g. [www.startup.com](http://www.startup.com) but the new server is sitting on [mautic.xyz.com](http://mautic.xyz.com). As someone new to marketing automation I’m not sure if the landing pages generated by mautic are typically very short lived and hence the url on which they found is not important or whether they should appear to be on the same site as our public website. We have a few options;

1. Put mautic on a subdomain of our public domain e.g. [https://m.startup.com](https://m.startup.com)
2. Use apache reverse proxy to proxy requests made to [https://www.startup.com/pages/](https://www.startup.com/pages/) onto [mautic.xyz.com](http://mautic.xyz.com)
3. Leave it on [mautic.xyz.com](http://mautic.xyz.com)

**My concerns are;**

a) SEO. If the landing page is not on the main websites domain they are unlikely to benefit from the domains authority in the SERPS.

b) If a customer lands on a page with a url that they don’t recognise they are less likely to take action. I would imagine that having the page as a subfolder of the main domain to be of a big advantage in terms of conversion. e.g. [https://www.startup.com/pages/](https://www.startup.com/pages/)

What would you recommend?

Hi henryb72,

So, all fair questions! One idea to consider:

You can actually mautic as a sub-folder instead of a sub-domain. So the complexity of running apache to reverse proxy around would be avoided. Just simply have: [startup.com/mautic-folder/](http://startup.com/mautic-folder/) be the container for Mautic. That could be named anything, “pages”, “content”, etc…

a) This should keep Google happy as it will just see a mautic landing page as a ‘page’ on [startup.com](http://startup.com). Google will just see the URL a sub-page to the domain.
b) this would also keep the domain name as the URL so the customer won’t be questioning the authenticity of the page.
