# & in a company name, can't be found in Contact \> Company field

**Your software**  
My Mautic version is: 4.4.5  
My PHP version is: 7.4.33  
My Database type and version is: 10.3.28-MariaDB

**Your problem**  
My problem is: Adding a company to a contact with an ‘&’ in the company name, the company name can not be found, is it the ‘&’ part of the search string?

You can type ‘W’ then the & stops it, it’s in the ‘Contact’, works okay on search in the companies.

Hi, can you check how it’s encoded in your DB?  
You have to look into the `campianies` table `comanyname` column.  
Is ampersand or a different string?
