# Installation Error

Hi,  
  
  
  
I downloaded the latest version of mautic, unzipped the files, uploaded them onto my webspace and made the index.php available via a subdomain. When I call …/index.php the following error message occurs:  
  
  
  
**Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T\_STRING, expecting T\_CONSTANT\_ENCAPSED\_STRING or ‘(’ in …/index.php on line 13**  
  
  
  
Any suggestions highly appreciated!

It sounds like you may be on a host with PHP 5.2. Mautic needs a 5.3+ environment. Can you verify?

Ah! I had to switch back to \< 5.3 due to an old SugarCRM installation some weeks ago - I did not remember that.
