#### **System Setup:**

- **Mautic Version:** 5.2.1 (attempting to update to 5.2.2)
- **Hosting:** Vultr VPS
- **Control Panel:** AA Panel
- **Environment:** LNMP (Linux, Nginx, MySQL, PHP)

#### **Issue Description:**

We attempted to update Mautic to version 5.2.2 through the admin dashboard. The update process started normally, but it failed at the extraction step with the following error:

**Error Message:**

> “The Mautic update could not complete successfully because of the following error: Could not extract the contents of the ZIP archive to the filesystem.”

In the update log, the steps showed:
✅ Running pre-update check: success
✅ Downloading package: success
❌ Extracting package: failed

#### **Troubleshooting Steps Taken:**

1. Verified that the server has sufficient disk space.
2. Checked file/folder permissions: Set the entire Mautic root directory to **777**.
3. Restarted the server and attempted the update again – same extraction error.

We have attached two screenshots showing the error message.

#### **Request for Help:**

Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Changed the original VPS and now everything works perfectly.🙂

I had problems updating too. I understand that you updated Mautic from its user interface. Is that true? Could you explain better how you solved the problem?

Thanks for your time

Hi @deepti

I have no problem updating from the command line. In most cases it’s more convenient and faster, but I do need the process to be accomplished without errors. I’m currently stuck on this part, as I published in [this post](https://forum.mautic.org/t/i-need-help-in-updating-to-5-2-1/34723/3), and [this](https://forum.mautic.org/t/unable-to-upgrade-mautic-version-5-0-4-to-5-1/32900/13).

I really want to implement this CRM in my clients, but I don’t dare to do it until I see consistent updates. I hope to be able to untangle this soon!

Thanks!

I’m also having the same problem, but I can update when using the terminal.

This is what I get when I update from terminal:

```auto
Step 1 [>---------------------------] Migrating database schema...
An error occurred while updating the database. Check log for more details.
```

If I access the Mautic installation from the browser I get this:

```auto
Oops! An Error Occurred
The server returned a ‘500 Internal Server Error’.
Something is broken. Please let us know what you were doing when this error occurred. We will fix it as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
```

The only error I see in the error log is this one:

```auto
Creation of dynamic property Mautic\\Middleware\\MiddlewareBuilder::$specs is deprecated in /path/to/mautic/app/middlewares/MiddlewareBuilder.php on line 24＇
```
