I am trying to just send a simple text based email when a user submits a form but when I test out this form I get a “[Message clipped] View entire message” in my email rather than the message itself. I have tried creating a new form, creating new email messages or only having a single line of text but it still continues to do this. Any Suggestions?

How long is the message? Here it says:

> [@](#):

> Gmail clips HTML emails that are larger than 102 KB

> **[Prevent Gmail clipping your message with an email diet](https://econsultancy.com/prevent-gmail-clipping-your-message-with-an-email-diet/)**

> Gmail clips HTML emails that are larger than 102 KB. And while this in itself of course isn't good news, it gets worse because it also hurts your email reputation. Are your emails too large?

Yea, I found that article as well. I have tried to just create an email with 5 words of text and I am still getting the same issue.

My text message is 469kB. The reason for so huge size are base64 encoded files:

- background images ( even in plain text template)
- fonts

When I use any theme then if gets back to 5-6kB which is perfectly fine!

A temporary fix for GMail? You may try to ask Google, but with my experience, they don’t reply too much.

@escopecz, I do not think the issue is about gmail clipping large e-mails.

The issue is that mautic mail composer (without theme) creates half megabyte mails.

</div>

Oh, I din’t catch that you think Mautic is responsible for the large email from your question.

It depends what you send in that email, isn’t it? If you send there a half megabyte image encoded in base64 in your email, then the email will have a half megabyte. You can insert the image by the `<img/>` tag and the email will be a half megabyte smaller. Over all, I still don’t think it is Mautic’s fault.

@escopecz

Thanks for the reply, Even if you send an email without images or very little text, the issue is the same.

So size doesn’t seem to be the issue. Perhaps if you could just send a test email to a Gmail account and see the issue for yourself?

I have not had this problem with other email marketing services so I am humbly assuming that it might be an issue on Mautic’s side?

I think we are getting to the point slowly. 🙂 Here are steps to replicate the issue:

1. Create new e-mail.
2. Type text into subject, internal name and one word in body.
3. Send test.

Mautic by default will attach fonts and backgrounds as base64. While user only typed few words in subject and in body.

Guys, I’m testing Mautic with GMail daily, I’ve never seen the issue you are describing. I just sent an email to a lead and this is the source which was delivered to my GMail inbox:

@trofim that is not Mautic’s content. You must have added it somehow. For example, if you search for a CSS class `_fd6-hoverMenu` from the source code of your email, it is not part of Mautic’s code:

[https://github.com/mautic/mautic/search?utf8=✓&q=\_fd6-hoverMenu&type=Code](https://github.com/mautic/mautic/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=_fd6-hoverMenu&type=Code)

I’d really like to know where did it came from. Please, tell us when you figure it out. Because it’s even not email-ready code. Many email inboxes doesn’t display CSS styles in the `<style/>` tag as you have there. You also have there javascript, which is, ehm, weird at least.

In case anyone else is having this problem, I also realized that, like @trofim, Grammarly for Firefox was adding a bunch of code to the textarea (message field) when sending. I tested using Safari and the message arrived in Gmail without the “Message clipped” note.
