# Set preferred\_locale

**Your software**  
My Mautic version is: 3 X Latest (who knows, version is Mautic bigest secret, realy deep buried in some file I try to find no luck. )  
My PHP version is: 7.3  
My Database type and version is: Maria DB

**Your problem**  
I have for many years hidden field SELECT in forms linked to contact preferred\_locale.  
default value is set to **en** and when customer complete form in eanglish language preferred\_locale is set to en language.  
After update lates 3.X can’t set up Select field and link to preferred\_locale anymore. No mather what I do it always set first language **af.**

These errors are showing in the log: no errors.

Steps I have tried to fix the problem:  
I set select field linked to preferred\_locale with default value **en.** YES Use assigned contact/company field’s list choices.  
I set select field linked to preferred\_locale with default value **en** with. NO Use assigned contact/company field’s list choices.

Is there any solution, or only through campagin is posible to set preferred\_locale after update?  
P.s.  
Old forms from before update still correctly asign preferred\_locale to form default value.
