# Upgrading and getting error

**Your software**  
My Mautic version is: 2.6?  
My PHP version is: 7.3

**Your problem**  
My problem is:  
I Wanted to upgrade to version 3 via backend upgrade and i got this error

- Your MySQL/MariaDB version is not supported. You need at least MySQL 5.7.14 or MariaDB 10.2 in order to run Mautic 3.

These errors are showing in the log:

Well, you will need to upgrade the database then. 🙂

Before that, make sure you backup your database(s).

which operating system are using?  
what version of database are using?  
how do you connect to your server?

in case you are using a linux system you could connect via ssh to your server and do the following steps to update.

i am on shared Bluehost and they say they have no plan to update mysql version to 5.7.14
