# Why do our emails end up in products category of Gmail?

Good day.  
Is there a way to specify that our email is not a product email but a video / social media notification? Or even better, can we specify that it is a regular email so that it does not end up in the wrong category?

Hi,

I guess you are talking about Gmail.  
The placement is decided by Google and it depends on your content / domain / past actions.

If you want to send normal emails, you can remove the bulk precedence (if you don’t know what that is, please search the web, there are tons of infos) from your email (you need to remove a line from the code in Mautic, won’t be a problem for a coder), and than if you really send super-low about of emails, you will be placed in the inbox (up to 100-200 emails / day).

If you send more, you’ll be sent to spam for falsely claiming that you are not sending bulk and you can destroy your domain/ip rep.

So from my current test, It seems that my email ended up in the products because I was using a pre-made template in the email building section. I ended up selecting a blank template and rebuilding our email template from scratch. it is now going into the regular inbox. I did not change any codes yet.

A different question, is there a way for me to save the email as a template so I can re-use it for future emails? The only way I can do that is by cloning an old email with the template.

Hi,

You can create a template with a bit of coding or clone the previous mail.  
There are many tutorials on the interwebs, give it a duckduckgo.  
My favorite is:

i want to remove line bulk precedence which file i need to look at ? i’m testing on local server pretty much all email goes to promotion or spam folder.

I’m sending less than 50 Email a day, most of them Regular plain Email, we don’t send news letter or bulk Email, all we send is regular plain text email.

Hey, unsub header and bulk tag is not all your inboxing depends on. It is one of the factors but far from all. Maybe your content sounds like a promo.  
Maybe you are only sending promo emails and no transactional.

Btw -how can you test inboxing locally?

If you really serous about inboxing, get a tool like glockapps.

I’m testing Mautic,  
how can i make sure if i’m sending promo email or transactional email ?  
does Mautic by Default send email out as Promo email? or transactional email ?  
if it sends promo email how can i turn off ?

Hello Miles,

I was wondering if you could share what you did in order to land in the inbox. I am having this problem where all my emails ends in promotions or updates tabs if I use inbuilt page builder from mautic. I even tried removing everything and just put a simple text but I end up in promotion tab everytime.
