Big Surge of Anonymous Contacts Being Created Out of Nowhere

My Mautic version is: 4.4.5
My PHP version is: 8.0
My Database type and version is: MariaDB 10.6

Your problem
My problem is:

I have deployed my app on a vps and that gave me a default domain of xyz.com.

Then I added a custom domain to it of abc.com and I’m able to navigate to my Mautic without any issue with it.

I have connected my Mautic to a WordPress and in my configuration, I have enabled “Restrict Domains” and added my WordPress link in “Valid Domains”

I have notice a big spike in my anonymous contacts recently where I saw around 800 anonymous contacts which was created with my default VPS link “https://xyz.com/zend”

I am a bit confused about this, are these bots? How come they are able to do page hit when I had restricted my domains?

Am I misunderstanding something?

Welcome to Mautic,

Do you have any public facing landing pages? If so it is possible it is bots. It could also be potential lead that have landed on your page somehow and it has recorded the page_hit. No form has been completed so Mautic doesn’t know who they are.

If by public facing landing pages you mean if my app is connected to any web etc, it isn’t.

Is my VPS the issue maybe?
