ChatGPT compares Hubspot to Mautic

Not bad. Though I think its missing the flexibility of Mautic, but this was generated in about 5 seconds. I found it interesting because ChatGPT is culling info from the internet, so this might be surfacing some PR challenges for Mautic.

HubSpot and Mautic are both marketing automation platforms that provide a range of tools and features for managing and automating marketing activities. However, there are a few key differences between the two platforms that may make one a better fit for your organization than the other.

One of the main differences between HubSpot and Mautic is the range of features they offer. HubSpot is a comprehensive marketing automation platform that includes a wide range of tools and features, including email marketing, lead capture forms, social media management, and sales enablement. In contrast, Mautic is a more specialized platform that focuses mainly on email marketing and lead generation. While Mautic does offer some additional features, such as social media integration and marketing automation, it is not as comprehensive as HubSpot.

Another key difference between the two platforms is the level of customization they offer. HubSpot is known for its robust set of customization options, including the ability to create custom fields, workflows, and integrations. This can be especially useful for organizations that have complex marketing needs and require a high level of flexibility in their marketing automation efforts. Mautic, on the other hand, is less customizable and may not be as suitable for organizations with complex marketing requirements.

Another factor to consider is the pricing model for each platform. HubSpot offers a range of pricing plans, including a free version that includes basic marketing automation tools, as well as paid plans that offer more advanced features. Mautic, on the other hand, is an open-source platform that is available for free, although some features and integrations may require additional fees.

Overall, both HubSpot and Mautic are solid marketing automation platforms with a range of features and capabilities. However, the specific needs of your organization will likely determine which platform is the best fit for you. If you require a comprehensive marketing automation solution with a wide range of tools and customization options, HubSpot may be the better choice. On the other hand, if you are mainly interested in email marketing and lead generation, Mautic could be a good fit.

Hi everyone,

I have noticed many people are curious about how HubSpot compares to Mautic, especially regarding pricing, GDPR, and long-term ownership.

I recently put together a very detailed article with side-by-side tables (pricing, features, pros/cons) that might help anyone evaluating both tools.

Would be happy to hear what you think and if I have missed any important angles! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks @ricfreire ! Love your comparison to a free puppy

That looks like a lot of work went into it. Very thorough. And I agree with all of it. It’s a shame that most people only realize how much effort is actually required, after they decide to go the self-hosting route.

We actually did a similar comparison. In our example, we landed at a potential saving of about €12’000. And that is even though we compared HubSpot with the managed hosting of Aivie — not the self-hosted version. Among other benefits like support, Aivie has ChatGPT included.
This is our take on it: https://aivie.ch/en/is-aivie-a-real-alternative-to-hubspot/

Great write up @ricfreire . I’m glad I checked back in!

I think the real value of Mautic is, where Hubspot or other propriatrey can’t even compete.

It can be self hosted. On premise.

You can extend it as you like, and you are not at the mercy of your vendor.

Hello joeyk,

I absolutely agree — this is exactly what makes Mautic so powerful. The freedom to self-host, customise, and truly own your data is something proprietary platforms rarely offer. That flexibility and independence are the real strengths of open source, and Mautic embodies that perfectly.

Of course, the trade-off is that it takes time and effort to get everything running the way you want. But that investment pays off — once it’s tuned to your needs, you have a system that’s fully under your control and can evolve with your business instead of locking you in to a vendor.

Thanks

I just went through the HubSpot ideas list on their website. Great to see that not all the features people want from Hubspot are there. And it made me specially proud that the most wanted feature, that is not planned to be done, is something we can do :slightly_smiling_face:.

And it shows as well the big benefit of open source. You don’t need to wait until HubSpot decides to do a feature, you can just do it yourself (or with the help of a partner).
