I was getting the same; I think it happens when the PHP version your cron is running is out of date. Which version of PHP are you running?

PHP Version 5.6.25
which on recommended?
I can switch to:
PHP 5.3.29
PHP 5.4.45
PHP 5.5.38
PHP 5.6.25
PHP 7.0.10
