My problem is: I have duplicate contacts with the same Email field

I am noticing that i have records in the Mautic DB that have duplicate emails. We are feeding data to mautic via forms and importing csv files. I have email field set to unique identifier and is not publicly available, but if I create a new contact manually or import it from a csv table it would create a new contact even if the email already exists.

What can i do to prevent this?

Steps I have tried to fix the problem: I have remove all the contacts, filter them with excell and upload them again. But it continues creating new records with the same email .

Do you have this setting for email address in custom fields?

It should be unique if you want data to be merged together.
Do you have other fields, that are unique?

Are you sure, that you are mathing email field with email when you import, or maybe you don’t match anything and email is shown as name?
