It would be very useful to have a button to reset the email open statistics for a campaign.
During the lifecycle of a campaign, the need to reset statistics often arises:
To remove the statistics generated during initial testing
To modify the campaign and clear the stats related to the previous version
Currently, the only options are to clone the campaign or manually delete records from the email_stats table.
A button would be much more convenient and safer.
I would also find such a button very useful for resetting campaign stats generated during the testing phase before sending emails out to contact leads.
That might lead to contacts restarting campaigns.
In my opinion it is a lot better option to hook up Metabase and have custom querries to see exactly what you want.
If Mautic allows the structure of a campaign to be modified but does not allow the statistical data to be reset, it facilitates a data consistency issue.
After the modification, the statistical data no longer reflects the latest update of the campaign, and this is a problem regardless of whether the data is analyzed with an external tool.
Adding a reset button does not eliminate the possibility of analyzing the data with an external tool. It’s an additional (easy) feature that helps maintain data consistency in Mautic.
You can capture all in Mautic’s report system, or with an external tool.
Each of the items above have a date attached, so you can filter for dates, and you have your time based statistics.
It’s not important to understand which data I need.
My proposal is to add a button that allows to reset the statistical data. That’s it — it doesn’t matter which data I need, I just want to reset them.
There are several use cases, for example:
Reset all statistical data generated after testing and before launching the campaign in production
Reset the statistical data if I make significant changes to the campaign
For me: it doesn’t make sense to be able to modify a campaign—even significantly—and not have the option to reset the statistical data. It’s a matter of data consistency.
Yes I totally agree that this feature is indeed required. You have may full support and backing.
What do you think about creating a menu named “Maintenance” were similar functionality can be placed securely like other systems or platforms. One named Marketplace has been added in the latest edition so it must be a trivial task ?
I hope you dont mind me saying that I’ve only been posting on this forum for a short while but in my short experience here the more experienced Mautic experts seem to try and dis-wade you that your idea is unworthy or unnecessary and you should just use Mautic as written. I dislike that practice.
If you mean me, I’m terribly sorry, didn’t want to dis-wade anyone’s idea.
Your idea is not unworthy. I simply wanted to draw your attention to the possible side effects.
I’m sure the plugin will be great for your business needs.
Yes a plugin is a really good idea. Why didn’t I think of that myself ?
I could write that in “C” quite quickly and it would be callable via a custom console command in ssh term. Anyone knows which tables store the stats to be cleared ?
But if you wanted it in php that would take me a while longer sadly.
Hi joeyk
Thank you very much for your message and for the open exchange of ideas — I truly appreciate it.
No offense taken at all, and I’m actually grateful for your input. Perhaps there was just a slight misunderstanding: I never felt your message was meant to discourage or dismiss anything.
I’m sure we both share the goal of finding the best solution, and I value the dialogue that leads us there.
