Site folder or subdomain?

I’m about to install Mautic.

My question is why I should prefer a subdomain to install?

Isn’t it simpler to have the install on a normal folder?

What are the advantages?

Thank you all.

@vizinho depends on you… all are fine

There was a time when (e.g.) Google handled subdomains as different domains/websites. AFAIK, by now everything all subdomains are handled as the same website/domain. Therefore it does not make a difference if you use a subdomain or a subfolder

i will go subdomain @vizinho
is more visual friendly for your landing pages (if using Mautic Landing Pages)

sample:

http://marketing.vizinho.com/my-landing-page-title
that
http://vizinho.com/marketing/my-landing-page-title

Wouldn’t use the term “marketing” in urls. I receive several emailings which come from marketing@company.xy and I always have a bad feeling about them. In my opinion, marketing is effective if it is not recognized direcly.

@PeterTL is just an example… is not an Instruction

Thank you all. Very helpful.

I agree that using a subdomain is more “sexy” but the SSL certificate that I can buy will not cover subdomains.
That way it’s easier to have mautic instaled on a site folder.

And, yes, I will not name it “marketing”!

Let’s encrypt is an alternative, thanks for the tip. Don’t like the constant renewal and I need to check if the hosting company supports the implementation.

On the offtopic and about the use of the term Marketing, I never thought to much about it but when I used mautic hosted pro I decided to call the subdomain something that was not so direct or even informative. I prefer something around the term Contact.
But well that’s the beauty of being human, we are all different and creative!

All the best and thank you for being around and support.
