Campaign Action Link to CustomObject - Anyone tried this?

I started playing with the idea of linking a specific custom object with multiple contacts based on a condition inside a campaign and see there is an Action “Link Contact with $CustomOnjectName” and then inside the configuration box you can “Link with item” and in the help it says “Start typing the name you want to link with the contact. Then select it”

This would be super cool if it was working, however when I type anything it does not give any auto-complete. Has anyone used this feature?
