Change max length for alias in custom fields?

Hello,

is there a way to change the max length for the alias for custom fields?

It seems that the max lenth for alias is 25 chars.

Is there a way to change this?

It can easily be increased to 191 characters by just changing the number 25 to 191. Anyone wants to push their first pull request?

Do we really want this? Try to name it something simple and short if at all possible.
