My idea is: Similar (or identical) to Pardot, create an area under “Components” that says “Custom Redirect.”
A custom redirect allows you to create:
- Name of Redirect
- Destination URL
- Action
“Name” just keeps things organized. Could also include Tags.
“Destination URL” is where the user should ultimately be redirected to. Mautic would take this “Destination URL” and create a new URL based on the mautic instance. The mautic user would then use this new URL on their website instead of the ‘natural’ one.
"Action’ would be something like “add to segment”, whatever the usual ones are.
When a web visitor clicks a link in a website, unbeknownst to them, they are brought to Mautic page and then redirected to their destination URL. This would allow the page visit to be picked up by Mautic (interpreted as a ‘click’ on the Custom Redirect) and also send the visitor to where they need to go.
This strategy is a used in Pardot all the time.
I think these groups of people would benefit from this idea: Marketers and analytics folks.
Why I think they would benefit from this idea: Keep track of external links more easily, and use those clicks to segment visitors.
Any code or resources to support this idea: I’d be happy to build out a better use case and some screenshots.
