Unfortunately, we were unable to upgrade to newer versions earlier 
Can we switch directly to version 5.1.0 or do we have to make subsequent transitions from 3.3.4 to 4.0 and then 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 to 5.1.0?

If you have a Mautic instance with a relatively small number of leads and campaigns, I suggest installing a brand new Mautic instance, with the lastest version.
Upgrading from version 3 to 5 can be quite challenging, especially if you have a large amount of data. It will also take a lot of time, but it’s not impossible. The correct upgrade path is from 3 to 4 and then from 4 to 5, like you wrote.

I don’t know why, but I didn’t think about installing the new 5.1 and importing my data from the current version.
It actually solves a lot of problems.
Is there a simple system for importing leads and campaigns in Mautic 5.1?
I only see the import of contacts and settings, but no campaigns or leads

There is no feature to import campaigns in Mautic at the momment. Campaigns rely on many assets, like emails, segments, tags, etc. It is very tricky.
