Global Media Library accessible from main navigation

Currently (tested on Mautic 5.x and 6.x), the Media Manager / Asset picker for images is only accessible from within the Email Builder or Landing Page Builder (e.g., via GrapesJS).

There is no global “Media Library” section available in the main left navigation menu.

This makes media management less efficient, especially when handling a large number of images or when preparing assets before creating emails or landing pages.

Problem

  • Media files can only be accessed and managed in the context of editing an Email or a Landing Page.

  • There is no centralized overview of uploaded images.

  • It is not possible to:

    • Pre-upload and organize images outside of a builder context

    • Clean up unused images easily

    • Manage folders/taxonomy globally

    • Audit media usage

For installations with many users and large media libraries, this becomes a usability and governance issue.

Proposal

Introduce a new top-level menu item in the main navigation, for example:

Settings → Media Library
or
Components → Media Library

This section would:

  • Provide a centralized view of all uploaded media files

  • Allow upload, rename, delete, move to folders

  • Show metadata (size, upload date, usage count if available)

  • Potentially display where each media file is used (emails, landing pages, etc.)

This would not replace the current asset picker in builders but would complement it with a global management interface.

Benefits

  • Improved UX for content managers

  • Better governance for enterprise installations

  • Easier cleanup of unused assets

  • Alignment with common CMS practices (WordPress, Drupal, etc.)

Context

This feature has been discussed in various community threads about improving the Media Library and GrapesJS asset management, but there is currently no standalone global interface in core.

I would be happy to help clarify use cases or test early implementations if needed.

Thank you for considering this enhancement :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello pierre_a,

Create Idea — really hoping the developers take action and implement this one soon. It would make a big difference to those that use the Media Library often!

Been building it myself - in private beta atm
