I added the {unsubscribe_text} to my email footer and then enabled the ‘Show Contact Preference Settings’ option in the email settings. However, when I preview the email and try to click on the unsubscribe link, I get a 404 Not Found message [1] [2] [3]

It looks like you have to add the fields according to your needs. I assume you want to activate “Show contact frequency preferences”. You can configure it in the Email Settings. Note that if you just want a simple one click unsubscribe, you can disable the “Show contact preference settings”.
