Is it recommended to update the PHP version to v.8?

Your software
My Mautic version is: v4.4.0
My PHP version is: 7.4.32

My question
Hi everyone, I read in the release notes that Mautic supports PHP v.8 with the release of Mautic v4. When checking the PHP version used on our installation it’s 7.4.32. Could this cause any issues, or make Mautic run slower than if we use v.8?

I switched to php 8.0 some weeks ago and don’t see any negative impacts. I would - from a purely security standpoint - switch from 7.4 to 8.0 as 7.4 will not receive security patches anymore (being already past it’s sunset date since end of November).

I would recommend to test it on a staging instance first, though.

We are using php 8 in production for over 20 clients. So far so good.
I would make sure to check instances with older plugins before I upgrade to production.
