Move Segment Participation to a Standalone Section in Contact View (Separate from Preference Center)

Currently, segment membership is managed through the contact’s Preferences tab, while Campaigns have their standalone menu in the contact view. This creates an inconsistent user experience and can be confusing.

We propose evaluating the feasibility of moving Segment participation into its own standalone section in the contact view — similar to how Campaigns are displayed — while preserving the ability to manage opt-in/out behavior via the Preference Center.

Problem:

  • Segment settings are buried under the Preferences tab.
  • Campaigns, meanwhile, have their menu.
  • This inconsistency can confuse marketers who expect similar treatment for segments and campaigns.

Suggested Change:

  • Create a Segments menu (similar to Campaigns) in the contact view.
  • This menu would:
    • Display current segment participation.
    • Allow marketers to manually add/remove contacts from segments (depending on configuration).

Benefits:

  • Improves UX consistency between Campaigns and Segments.
  • Makes segment participation more visible and accessible.
  • Reduces confusion for marketers when managing contacts.

What about moving campaigns to the preferences modal instead?

Not sure about moving it there. I see why you suggest it. But it would make it more complicated to find. The problem I see our customers having right now is that people don’t find where to change the segments.
