Hello and good morning to the entire Mautica community, I would like to ask some questions and see if you can guide me please.
I am currently working with a group of people and I am about to do 4 installations of Mautic, so I ask them which version is the best now and that there are no problems as they will be used to work immediately.
I had an instance with amazon aws where I installed Mautic 2.16.0 and it worked fine, suddenly it stopped working, the same happened with another one that had a friend, my friend’s, I restarted it and it worked but mine crashed and no longer works , done, the ip does not open anything and check in the Get system log panel and see that this error came out Error starting LSB: bitnami init script.

Is there a way to restore it? as I have an important contact list that I cannot back up.

It’s hard to say without you testing for yourself, I can recommend v3.0.1, it works superbly for my use case, and I don’t see myself updating anytime soon.
You’ll want to check why the bitnami script is stopping, dig harder in the logs
Not that bad, but it would depend on what you would be doing on the instances of your mautic program. What are your use cases?

I would still go with Mautic 2.16.3.
If you go to Mautic.org you will see the difference between the two. IMO there is not much difference and I am running both 3.1.0 and 2.16.3 and unfortunately 3.1.0 is still a little buggy, for production I would stick with 2.16.3 for another few months.
if you look on linuxbabe.com and search for mautic installation you will find installation giude for both 2.16.x and 3.0 on both ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04.

When you checked this, what did you get, or preferably, run the below command
journalctl -u bitnami.service
That should be okay, but honestly, I am not familiar with a2hosting, so, I can’t really tell how efficient that server would be, since it is a managed VPS, it should be fine. I use upcloud VPS (unmanaged VPS), and a $10 plan runs mautic well for thousands of mail lists, but you can give a2hosting a try, and see if it works out for you.
mautic 3 fixes a couple of bugs, and also had some dependencies updated, so, you should get something better than version 2.
When you are installing mautic 3, one thing you should take note of, is the cron job, the console has been moved to another directory, so, you will need to update all your cron jobs and replace app/console with bin/console.

Hello mikew - Why do you recommend v2.16.3? When I asked on the forum months ago Ruth recommended I go with M3.
I simply want a stable and working platform - as a beginner I have no need for bells and whistles yet.
Could you please elaborate on your recommendation before I commmit to deploying two servers into production ?

M3 is much more better to use as there are upgrade on symphony although there may not be much feature added. It’s safer especially when you have to upgrade to next version.

From personal experience. @tobsowo is correct that you will get more updates etc… on 3.x however it is very new (only a few months) and there are many things that are still a bit buggy IMO.

I have found mautic 3.x to work fine with one issue associated with the bounce tracking and the AWS using API connection. Simple fix for now is to not use the new AWS connection method until the bounce tracking is fixed. The core appears to be very stable.
I had troubles during testing of upgrades from 2x to 3x. Database upgrades failed consistently. For this reason I would probably go with 3x now and not have to face the 2x to 3x upgrade headache later.
