What is the best practice for bulk uploading contacts to Mautic and marking particular contacts unsubscribed, or do not contact?
What should the column header be?
Easy and bulletproof but more work:
Divide db into groups, like don’t contact, unsubscribe, good.
Upload separately, add a segment or a tag to each batch. Done
Thank you! Is it possible to have “Status” as the column header, with “Confirmed” or “Unsubscribed” as the item next to the contact, or will Mautic not recognize this? Thanks!
you could create a custom field “Status” and map your import field to it.
Whatever you do - segment, field, … - you will still have to run a little campaign that evaluates that information and sets the contact to “do not contact” accordingly.
(Also applies to other information like “Confirmed” or “Unsubscribed” but the details really depend on how you modelled your status and subscriptions)

When uploading could we put “true” “false” with the header row donotcontact or is that not something mautic recognizes?
Or is the “Do Not Contact” in the properties drop down looking for an email in that column?
“Do not contact” what would the criteria be for that when mapping a contact in a .csv?
