Hey Mautic dev team. On one of my WP installations I’m using a theme called “Launch Effect.” After a user signs up with their email, it provides them with a unique referral link (and a set of social buttons they can easily click to share that link) to share with their friends. Then when their friends come to the website and sign up, it keeps track of how many people they referred.
This is great because it allows us to create incentives for inviting friends to sign up. We’ve all heard the stories of companies like Harry’s (shaving) or Dropbox who used strategies like this to achieve insane viral launches.
Harry’s offered progressive levels of cool free stuff for the referring user, depending on how many of their friends signed up. If I remember correctly, you only had to get 5-10 friends to sign up to get a free razor in the mail… so it really exploded fast. People wanted that razor!
Anyways, I thought it would be super rad if something like this was built into Mautic. Perhaps as a feature that could be optionally switched “on” or “off” and used where desired. I think almost anyone doing email marketing can find a use for it, or would probably at least enjoy experimenting with it at some point.

Great timing! I’m looking to implement a referral based marketing solution with the Mautic platform.
Awesome! Can’t wait to hear more about it.
I think I have to agree with @MxyzptlkFishStix on this one. It would be better to use something purpose built for this.
LaunchEffect is already pretty great, and with the JS tracking option in Mautic, you could probably push referring user as a tag for each new user for use in your Marketing Automation.
Any idea if the dev team is working on this yet?
