How I installed a self-hosted instance with Softaculous

I currently use a shared hosting plan with an affordable service. Unfortunately, their cPanel connection to softaculous wasn’t showing the Mautic install. Here’s what I had to do. I googled Softaculous and Mautic.

1- https://www.softaculous.com/apps/others/Mautic

2- I clicked on “Install Mautic now”

3- You end up at http://remote.softaculous.com and you’ll need to create and account.

4- Once logged in then you can search for Mautic then click on “Install Mautic now”

5- You’ll be asked for your ftp access and the path for your install. I installed into the folder with my WP install.

6- Once the ftp info is verified you end up at a window similar to the WP install - but it’s not the same.

7- Before you fill in the above window you need to go back to cPanel and create a MySQL DB and DB user that Mautic will use.

8- Back to Softaculous and enter in the MySQL info you created and the remaining info it asks for. It will tell you it’s downloading the installer to your ftp folder then it will automatically do the install. If you get errors, read them carefully, then correct the required info.

9- Once complete Softaculous will tell you it’s done and give you your admin URL for Mautic. You’ll also receive an email with all your install and DB logins etc…

10- Login into Mautic (using the url softaculous just sent you) and configure Mautic.

(if you previously had a mautic.com instance connected to WP, you’ll want to change the URL in the WP Mautic plugin to connect to your new self-hosted instance)
