Is Mautic 5 ready for production?

I see a bunch of threads about various bugs in Mautic 5 that make it challenging to use for production. I’ve got v4 installed and have been learning the ropes, but I wonder if I should upgrade to v5 before I start using it for real. What do think?

Depends on your set-up and needs.

If you need to upgrade to a maintained PHP version, M5 is a must.

If you use Amazon SES or any other ESP and need bounce management via callbacks, M4 might still be a must. That is until the plugins are ready (some are) and battle tested.

Other than that: There are bugs for M4, too. So, there’s that

I agree with OP: I tried to update from a production system running Mautic 4 to a test system Mautic 5 using the documentation. There were a lot of issues and I still have not a working system. I also got the feeling that the software misses a lot of QA or assumes that everyone starts from scratch with Mautic 5.

Here we are in March 2025. What is updated answer to the OP’s question? How much progress has been made? I installed 5.2.1 and then upgraded to 5.2.2.

I continue to experience instability with the backend and bugs here and there with the email editor.

Does anyone out there have a fully functional and bugless Mautic 5.x?

Following a discussion I had with @rcheesley I understand that Mautic 4.x is no longer being supported with security updates which renders the system “insecure” as there are a number of exploits that have been released, so I guess Mautic 5 should be operational however I have yet to put it into production for my instances.

I do have a fully operational version of Mautic 5 that I am testing out and playing with, the whole email configuration and working is totally different from 4 and the documentation i have found so far is “okay” but not covering all the topics. I hope to add to this as i move forward.

interested in hearing some other expereinces here as well.
