Mautic hangs after trying to access system configuration

My Mautic version is: 5.0.4
My PHP version is: 8.1.27
My Database type and version is: 10.6.16-MariaDB-0ubuntu0.22.04.1

Your problem
My problem is:
Things work as they should until I try to access the system configuration (/s/config/edit). When I do Apache2 appears to hang indefinitely and I cannot access any other pages. I need to restart the apache2 process to fix the problem.

These errors are showing in the log:
I’ve checked the apache2 error and access logs and the PHP error log without seeing anything that would explain this.

Steps I have tried to fix the problem:
Searched the forums and the web.

The request to /s/config/edit does not appear in the access log. In other words, the process does not finish and simply hangs.

What could cause the PHP process to run indefinitely? All I’ve done is add custom themes.

Can this be caused by Mautic attempting to download for example translations but being blocked by a firewall? Where in the database can I see such queued download attempts?

The VPS is not blocked by a firewall. I can make outbound connections on port 80 and 443.

And… it works again. I cannot fathom why.
