Mautic Outlook Plugin Download

Hello all,
does anyone have a compiled Version of the Mautic Outlook plugin for installation on Outlook 2016. I have reinstalled my PC and now I am unable to find the installer for the plugin.

please help
Michael

Was this solved? Keen for the plugin myself.

Cheers,

Solved: The link on the documentation page is slightly incorrect. You can download the plugin from here: https://m.mautic.org/asset/24:microsoft-outlook-plugin-102

Thank you! The Plugin works great.

This URL in this thread is dead and I can’t seem to find this anywhere, does anyone have a current link? Thanks!

@fdiebel, it looks like the plug-in has not been maintained any time recently.
Based on @npracht’s comment here, the plugin isn’t working (see below) with the current version of Mautic.

If you want to give it a try, it looks like you can download the installer .zip here. Norman’s company, Webmecanik, paid for a freelancer to compile the C# source files from the GitHub repo.

Edit: We just tested this and got it to track one-to-one emails correctly. There was a quirk if the base URL of the Mautic instance is installed in a directory rather than a subdomain, but it’s easily fixed by setting up the add-in using the correct URL (including folder without trailing slash). We’ll publish a blog post soon documenting all the steps.

Edit 2: Here’s the guide to installing/configuring the Mautic Outlook Add-in with screenshots.

Ah that’s great. Tested here w/ Outlook 2019 as well, and it seems to work great.

One oddball thing is that it seems to instantly add an “Email read” event to the contact activity, which is not quite the behavior I expected.

It is tracking actual read/opens as well though. Maybe we can take a look in the source and see what’s going on, but we’re not well versed in C# here at all. Thank you for taking the time to answer, and making this download available!

It would be great if you could add a comment on the PR so we can get it merged (assuming that PR fixes the issue). I can then update the URL.

Have already added a comment to the PR https://github.com/mautic/mautic/issues/6119#issuecomment-572390509 for the record. Will look at converting the instructions into Markdown for the Readme.md and/or Mautic documentation in the coming days.

Sorry I meant this PR: https://github.com/mautic/MauticOutlookPlugin/pull/1 - I had asked if it was still working but was told it was not.

If this is not the case, we can get this PR merged and update the links etc.

I did some testing and was unsuccessful. I opened outlook as admin and uninstalled the previous plugin. Then installed the new plugin. My mautic is in a subdirectory and in a subdomain. I setup the url and set it to https://subdomain.domain.biz/mautic/index.php. I also tested https://subdomain.domain.biz/mautic/index.php
In all cases even when the URL is set incorrect ther will be a sig=…
Only when the url is set correct the IP is noticed in Mautic. However, no email address is added. only the IP.
I further tested by copying the url from the source of the email and opening it in a browser. I would expect a blank page with pixel, but I receive a page not found or file not found error.
What strikes me is that the url is:
https://sudomain.domainr.biz/mautic/index.php/plugin/Outlook/tracking.gif
This filepath does not exist.
I tested with incognito and mobile device (wifi off)

Mautic plugin does not work as expected, it is tracking the email as read while the email is not read

Did you test with different email addresses from different esp-s?
Also not tracking gmail properly?
Thx,
Joey

Yes I have tried different email addresses as per the document it says

Appending a tracking pixel via the Outlook plugin means that there is a possibility for false positives on email opens. This edge case occurs if the user’s Outlook has the Preview Pane enabled for Sent Messages.

I have also disabled the Preview Pane for sent messages but still does not works yes it tracks the activity but also tracking it email as read while its not.

Outlook emails are often company emails protected by spam filters.
Some spam filters ‘fire up’ the tracking pixel.
I have a client at a Bank, where we have 99% open rate for every single campaign due to this issue.
You can test if this is the case by checking how much time was spent between getting the email and fireing up the pixel. You can make a report about it I beleive, but I can’t show you right now exactly how it’s done.

Hey @rcheesley ,

How can we find someone to update the Outlook plugin ?
I’m desperately looking for a developer, but it’s not that simple to find someone who know Mautic, Outlook and C#…
I think we’d need a very clear specification to explain what the plugin should do to the email so that Mautic can track it :

  • is it only put a pixel ?
  • if so, what’s the tracking URL ?

How can we move forward on this topic ?

Thanks a lot for your support

Hi there,

If you wanted to post a bounty on it I could enable that, but we definitely do not have anyone in the community that I am aware of who could work on this.

Agree that it requires a clear spec on what is not working, what needs improving, etc.

Let me also check if any orgs have fixed/updated the plugin internally but not yet released to the community.

If you add a bounty, I will raise it by $30.
I think it’s a good feature.
Joey

Count me in for an additional $30 as well.

On the eve of any update, #t-legal-finance will need to update the Terms & Conditions within the installer. I did not start an Issue on that.
