Silly question: Which version of Mautic to use?

As of today: 2025-11-30 — there are three flavours of Mautic:

v5.x Branch:

  • All the documentation seems to be written for this version.
  • Seems like the most widely used version of Mautic
  • However, only actively supported until 30th June 2025 (which has passed)

v6.x Branch

  • I feel like this is a bridging branch (even says so on the releases page)
  • Actively supported until 30th September 2025, which has also passed.
  • However: Documentation seems like 5.x docs
  • Feels like I should skip this version.

v7.x Branch

  • I feel like this is the future, and the version I should install for my new projects because it’s the most current and has the longest road of active development.
  • It’s in RC, so not release, but upgrade paths from older versions seem unclear, so if I install 5.x in a few months I’ll be looking at needing to upgrade to 7 which is a big jump.
  • And, at least right now, the documentation seems also like 5.x docs

I realize this is a personal / project based question — ie how much risk vs going with a stable but EOL version….

That said… if YOU were starting a brand new production Mautic project today, with a longer term view, which would you install?

We are currently using latest 5 (even for new projects) and plan to move to 7 as soon as the LTS version is released (i.e. will skip M6 altogether…)

I am keeping around 12 installations in 5 and 12 in 6, but guess will move all to 6 because of some small things that are slightly different, but any is good enough.
The reason I jumped to 6 is because I use softaculous to install and that’s the only version available there.

5 is perfectly fine. 6 also.
