Web activity wrongly related to leads

Your software
My Mautic version is: 2.15.1
My PHP version is: 7.1

Your problem
My problem is:

  1. I integrated my website to Mautic using the standard script so web activity is detected in Mautic and I can see anonymous visiting the website
  2. I imported a list of contacts with no digital activity (no emails sent, no forms etc.)
  3. I see that the page hits are related randomly to the contacts imported with no logic, so what I see is that a contact visited 1 or 2 pages in my website but how can this be possible? There is nothing that can relate those contacts to those pages.

These errors are showing in the log: no log errors

Steps I have tried to fix the problem: I tried to empty all the tables in the DB (ip, ip-leads, page hits) but after a little while everything starts again.

Hi @giovanni and welcome to the forums

From what you are explaining above, you are getting page hits against the contacts that you have just imported manually, but you haven’t tied those contacts to an IP address so it doesn’t make sense that the traffic should be attributed to them. Is that correct?

Can you double check if there are any IP addresses listed against the contacts you’ve imported? Sometimes if you import from other systems it will bring over an IP address.

Dear Ruth,
thank you for your prompt reply.
Yes what you wrote is correct.
I actually cleaned the ip address - leads table and also the ip address table so no IP is related to the contacts I imported.
The contacts were imported via ETL jobs from SugarCRM to Mautic (we needed a more complex integration than the one available), the contacts ID are in Mautic format so incremental from 1 to …

I had and have a similar (or identical ?) issue : Activities are attributed to contacts that factually couldn’t be at the origin. I tried to get help, but no luck : Can we trust Mautics contact identification ?

Something’s broken, so take your precautions. I resigned to using Mautic as a poor man’s Sendy. That, at least, works : Getting your emails out.

Hi Andrass, this is strange, I can’t realize how this can happen.

Any other suggestion out there?
